Reshaping the contours of the nose with rhinoplasty can redefine its appearance and bring it into harmony and balance with the other facial features. Dr. Brent Koch and Dr. Cody Koch can help reshape the nose to a more appealing size and contour, and restore optimal breathing function through rhinoplasty (a nose job) in West Des Moines. As some of the top facial plastic surgeons in Iowa, our surgeons perform about 45 to 50 rhinoplasty procedures per year for our patients from Des Moines, Ankeny, Ames, and Davenport; they have performed more rhinoplasty procedures than any other practice in the state.

As board-certified specialists in facial surgery, our doctors have extensive training and more than 45 years of combined experience in performing facial procedures. About Rhinoplasty

Board-certified facial plastic surgeons Dr. Brent Koch and Dr. Cody Koch have the unique ability to improve the appearance of the nose while simultaneously improving its breathing function.

Cosmetic Rhinoplasty

Through cosmetic rhinoplasty, the appearance of the nose can be altered by:

  • Reducing a nasal hump
  • Changing the shape of the tip or bridge
  • Raising or lowering the tip
  • Narrowing the span of the nostrils

Cosmetic rhinoplasty creates a more proportional, harmonious nose while honoring your face’s unique aesthetic integrity.

Functional Rhinoplasty (Deviated Septum Correction)

If the septum is deviated or the nasal passages are blocked, your surgeon can correct your breathing with a septoplasty. If this is the case, insurance may reimburse you for the functional portion of the procedure.

Whether you want to repair a broken nose or achieve a smaller, more balanced nose, nose surgery can give you the chance to make long-lasting improvement in your breathing and nasal appearance.

How Much Does Rhinoplasty Cost in Des Moines?

At our practice, the price of rhinoplasty starts at $7,675. Keep in mind that additional charges for the surgery center/operating room and anesthesia may apply. Cosmetic consultations with Dr. Brent Koch or Dr. Cody Koch are $150. This payment is applied to the surgeon’s fee should you decide to book your procedure within a year of your consultation. Dr. Cody Koch accepts medical insurance for functional rhinoplasty.

Be aware, these are ballpark prices only and subject to change. No information presented on our website replaces the value of an actual face-to-face consultation and in-office quote presentation.

What’s a Liquid Rhinoplasty?

A liquid rhinoplasty, also called a liquid nose job, is a nonsurgical procedure that reshapes the nose with dermal filler injections. It is best for making subtle improvements to the bridge or tip of the nose. While it is more affordable than surgical rhinoplasty and requires no downtime, liquid rhinoplasty cannot correct breathing problems and provides temporary results. Learn more in this blog post.

Revision Rhinoplasty

Our surgeons perform revision rhinoplasty, also called secondary rhinoplasty, for people who are unhappy with the results of a previous rhinoplasty performed elsewhere or experience an unforseen complication or trauma to the nose after rhinoplasty. These procedures frequently involve complex challenges such as scarring and loss of cartilage that require the specialized training and experience posessed by our facial plastic surgeons.

What To Expect at Your Rhinoplasty Consultation

Your nominal consultation fee covers an extensive, personal consultation with either Dr. Brent Koch or Dr. Cody Koch. Your doctor will:

  • Spend a great deal of time with you, discussing your goals, concerns, and physical and lifestyle considerations.
  • Listen intently to your insights, opinions, and desires.
  • Perform computer imaging to help you visualize your results.
  • Work with you to develop the best approach to your treatment, as each nasal surgery is different and requires a unique plan.

Women and men who schedule their surgery at the time of consultation will have their consultation fee applied toward their procedure.

Computer Imaging

We offer computer imaging so you can see possible results in advance of your surgery. This advancement in technology allows us to alter a computer-enhanced image of your nose and face to simulate your final outcome. It also allows us to understand exactly what you are aiming to achieve.

How Is Rhinoplasty Surgery Done?

The actual rhinoplasty procedure is performed by restructuring the cartilage and bone that form the framework of the nose. The skin is then re-draped over the new shape. A small plastic splint is worn over the bridge of the nose for 4 to 5 days following the surgery.

The procedure takes place in an outpatient surgery center. It is most often performed using general anesthesia.

How Long Does Rhinoplasty Surgery Take?

Rhinoplasty usually takes between 1 and 2 hours to complete, although more complicated procedures may take longer.

How Painful Is the Rhinoplasty Procedure?

Most patients tolerate the procedure very well. There may be some pain initially, especially during the first 24 to 48 hours; however, by taking the prescribed pain medication as directed, it is very tolerable! Our surgeons do not use nasal packing, which eliminates this common source of discomfort. Keep in mind, experiences and tolerance for pain vary between patients.

Meet Our Providers

At Koch & Carlisle, we have assembled a team of three highly skilled, board-certified plastic surgeons—two for the face and one for the breast and body. The result: exceptional plastic surgery results from head to toe for the West Des Moines, IA, area.

How Long Does It Take To Recover From a Rhinoplasty?

Many patients take a week off of work or school; some immediately return to their routines. Some of our patients have reported that they are surprised with how well they feel. Bruising and significant swelling are uncommon.

How Soon After My Rhinoplasty Can I Start Exercising Again?

In general, our patients are permitted to return to their workout routines as follows:

  • Light exercise: 1 week
  • Heavy contact sports: at least 4 to 6 weeks
