Nonsurgical cosmetic treatments for a wide range of concerns are becoming increasingly popular as patients look for less invasive solutions. It’s a trend we welcome in the right situations. But it’s important to understand the limitations of these procedures such as non-surgical rhinoplasty. At our West Des Moines, Iowa, facial plastic surgery practice, surgical rhinoplasty remains the preferred option for patients who want to change the shape or size of their noses.

It seems like it’s all for the gram these days. Photos posted and shared on social media platforms such as Instagram are making us more self-conscious about our appearances. That’s something we hear more frequently from patients who want treatments that can help them put their best face forward.

One treatment we offer that provides instant gratification and no downtime is non-surgical rhinoplasty. You may have even noticed we’ve added a new category in our photo gallery for showing the results of this procedure, which camouflages perceived imperfections such as a dorsal hump on the bridge of the nose or making the bridge appear straighter.

The full non-surgical nose job procedure takes only about 10 to 15 minutes and the results can be seen immediately. While instant gratification from treatments involving soft-tissue fillers like Juvederm® or Restylane® has many benefits, we also like to remind our patients of the downside.

What are the pros of a liquid nose job?

There are a number of advantages to using fillers to reshape your nose. Those benefits include:

  • Quick and comfortable
  • Immediate results
  • No downtime
  • Not permanent (lasts about 12-18 months)
  • No risk of anesthesia complications
  • Inexpensive compared to surgery
  • You can “test-drive” rhinoplasty

What are the cons of a liquid nose job?

There are some obvious and not-so-obvious reasons that a liquid nose job may not be for you.

Those disadvantages include:

  • The results are temporary, lasting about 12-18 months
  • Potential risk of filler spreading
  • Potential risk for injection-related side effects
  • Very rare risk of allergy
  • Not a long-term solution

As with any injections, redness, tenderness, bruising, and swelling should be expected and are temporary. The cost of the treatment is based on the amount of filler used and will be discussed and your consent required before your treatment.

It’s important to do your homework before choosing a provider, especially for a treatment such as liquid rhinoplasty. Extensive skill and experience is required to ensure the product is injected correctly, with your safety of paramount importance.

Consultation at our West Des Moines practice for a liquid nose job is complimentary. We invite you to call us to schedule at (515) 277-5555 or contact us using the online form.

A non- surgical nose job is done using the dermal filler Voluma and the cost is $840 per syringe. In most cases, only one syringe is used. Thank you.

    Hello,
Does your clinic offer the use of threads along with fillers to alter the appearance of someone’s nose? I’m interested in doing this and have seen great results when threads are also used. Thank you!

I am sorry, we do not use threads. We have had terrific results using filler alone and our doctors are experts at “liquid rhinoplastys”. Please refer to our website http://www.kochmd.com for photos of real patients who have had this procedure. Please call our office at your convenience and we will be happy to help you set up a time to meet with one of our doctors and answer any additional questions you have. Thank you.
