How Do BOTOX, DAXXIFY, & Jeuveau Work?
Neuromodulators reduce the appearance of wrinkles by temporarily weakening the facial muscles used when you squint, look worried, smile, appear surprised, or change your expressions in other ways. This is different from the way dermal fillers restore volume within the skin to fill out static wrinkles and folds.
What Do BOTOX, DAXXIFY, & Jeuveau Treat?
Our BOTOX Cosmetic, DAXXIFY, and Jeuveau patients typically desire a subtle yet noticeable improvement in their look but don’t feel that surgery is necessary. This treatment is commonly used to:

What To Expect During BOTOX, DAXXIFY, & Jeuveau Treatments
BOTOX, DAXXIFY, and Jeuveau treatments consist of a simple series of injections performed using a very fine needle. Although most patients do not experience discomfort, if you are concerned, we can numb the areas with ice or anesthetic cream. The procedure usually takes just minutes to complete.
Your specific facial anatomy and the location of lines and wrinkles determine the exact injection sites for your treatment. Typically, treatment for crow’s feet includes 3 injection locations. Treating glabellar lines (“worry lines”) usually includes 5 separate injection sites just above and between the brow.
How Many Units of BOTOX, DAXXIFY, & Jeuveau Will I Need?
The number of units depends on the product. BOTOX and Jeuveau require fewer units than DAXXIFY, but DAXXIFY results last longer. Here are the typical number of units for common treatment areas:
- Forehead lines: 10-20 (BOTOX), 30-35 (DAXXIFY
- Glabellar lines: 20-25 (BOTOX), 40 (DAXXIFY)
- Crow’s feet: 5 to 15 units (each side) (BOTOX), 45 (DAXXIFY)

Neurotoxin treatments typically require little or no downtime, and patients are usually able to resume their normal activities immediately. We do recommend that you avoid putting pressure on treated areas for the remainder of the day.
What To Expect at Your BOTOX, DAXXIFY, & Jeuveau Consultation
There is no charge for a comprehensive BOTOX, DAXXIFY, or Jeuveau consultation. Your provider will spend a great deal of time with you, discussing your goals, concerns, and physical and lifestyle considerations. Neuromodulators vs. Dermal Fillers
While both are injectable facial rejuvenation treatments, neuromodulators and dermal fillers have some important differences, including:

Are BOTOX, DAXXIFY, and Jeuveau safe?
Yes. BOTOX was approved by the FDA for cosmetic use in 2002. Jeuveau, also called #NEWTOX, attained FDA approval in 2019. It is the first alternative to BOTOX to be released in the U.S. in 10 years. DAXXIFY is the newest neuromodulator designed to treat frown lines. It is a vegan product that has been shown to last up to 6 months, twice as long as other neuromodulators. When administered by a trained, experienced professional, these treatments are very safe and have a low risk of complications for most people.
What is the difference between BOTOX, DAXXIFY, and Jeuveau?
BOTOX and Jeuveau are both purified botulinum toxin products that temporarily correct dynamic wrinkles. BOTOX has medical uses as well. Jeuveau was developed exclusively for cosmetic use. Its state-of-the-art manufacturing process may make it more potent and cost-effective than other neurotoxins. DAXXIFY is a neuromodulator powered by peptides, not derived from human blood products, making is a vegan product that enables it to last up to twice as long as other injectable frown line treatments. During your consultation, your practitioner will recommend the injectable best suited to your desired improvements, whether it’s BOTOX, Jeuveau, DAXXIFY, dermal fillers, or a combination of treatments.
Do BOTOX, Jeuveau, and DAXXIFY work as a preventative?
They can. When people in their late 20s to early 30s begin BOTOX, Jeuveau, or DAXXIFY treatments before lines and creases have a chance to develop or become significant, they can hold off these common signs of aging seen in people in their late 30s and up. This option typically isn’t costly because we use less product per treatment and space treatments farther apart than when addressing actual wrinkles.
What’s the best age to start BOTOX, Jeuveau, or DAXXIFY treatments?
The best age to start BOTOX, Jeuveau, or DAXXIFY treatments depends on what you want to accomplish. There really isn’t an upper age limit if you want to look refreshed or more youthful; however, deeper lines and widespread wrinkles may require a laser treatment or cosmetic surgery.
When will I see results?
Following a treatment with BOTOX Cosmetic, patients can expect to see results in 3 to 5 days, with improvements continuing for up to 2 weeks. Results from Jeuveau injections may appear as early as 2 to 3 days and continue to improve for about 7 to 10 days. Results from DAXXIFY typically appear within 2-3 days following treatment and last 6 months on average.
How long will my results last?
Most BOTOX and Jeuveau patients retain their refreshed, rejuvenated appearance for 3 to 4 months. With regular maintenance treatments, results may last up to 6 months. DAXXIFY results typically last up to 6 months, requiring less maintenance for longer results.
